Kavala’s History, Views, and Gourmet Delights
Hey everyone! Ready for a deep dive into the “Blue City”? Join me for a day blending magnificent architecture with modern flair. We’ll start at the stunning Roman Aqueduct before climbing to the Byzantine Castle for panoramic sea views. We’ll stop for a high-end contemporary lunch at Nemesis, then enjoy coffee downtown. After a refresh in Palio, we’ll head back to Kavala for a classic seaside dinner at Apiko. It’s a full 9 AM to 10 PM immersion into history, culture, and fantastic Greek food. Kavala City Immersion (History, Old Town & Food)
- 09:00 AM: DEPARTURE from Palio.
- 09:30 AM: Kavala Aqueduct (Kamares). [30 minutes] Get there
A quick stop for photos and viewing of the impressive Ottoman-era aqueduct, the city’s most recognizable landmark, which once supplied water to the Old Town.
- 10:00 AM: Church of St. Nicholas (Kavala Center). [45 minutes] Get there
A visit to this prominent church, which stands on the site of a former Ottoman Mosque. View its distinct architecture and centrally located interior.
- 10:45 AM: Walk and Explore Central Kavala. [30 minutes] Get there
Time for a short walk through the commercial center before heading up to the Old Town peninsula.
- 11:15 AM: Kavala Old Town (Panagia) & Castle. [1 hour 45 minutes] Get there
Wander through the charming, narrow cobblestone streets of the Panagia peninsula. Climb to the top of the Kavala Castle, a Byzantine and Ottoman fortress, for a spectacular 360-degree view of the city, the harbor, and the Aegean.
- 01:00 PM: Nemesis Restaurant, Kavala for Lunch. [1 hour 30 minutes] Get there
Enjoy a contemporary Greek meal at Nemesis, known for its creative dishes and elevated setting. This is a chance for a high-quality culinary stop in the city center.
- 02:30 PM: Naval Terrace Bar for Coffee Break. [1 hour 00 minutes] Get there

- 03:30 PM: back in Palio for pre-dinner break. [4 hours 00 minutes] Get there
- 08:00 PM: Apiko Restaurant, Kavala for Dinner. [1 hour 50 minutes] Get there
